Fall 2025 Schedule

Sunday, August 17–Saturday, August 23

Note: All activities are optional except International Orientation on August 20 and 21. Activities are open to only new international undergraduate students.

Most of the events listed below are hosted by the International Welcome Team and are for new international students. To find many other events for all new students, including U.S. students, visit bigredwelcome.unl.edu.

5:30 p.m.

Dinner at a Dining Center

Join International Welcome Team members for dinner at Willa Cather Dining Center. Open to students living in University Housing and off-campus residents (free). Meet inside the main entrance of Willa Cather.

Monday, August 18
10:30 a.m.

Campus Walking Tour

Take a visit around campus to get familiar with its layout and buildings. Bring your class schedule if you want to find your class buildings. Meet at the Broyhill Fountain outside the Nebraska Union.

12 p.m.

Lunch at the Dining Centers

Join International Welcome Team members for lunch at Willa Cather or Harper Dining Center. Welcome Team members will be at both. Open to students living in University Housing and off-campus residents (free). Meet inside the main entrance of Willa Cather or Harper.

2:30 p.m.

Nebraska State Capitol Tour

Walk to the State Capitol building for a free tour that showcases the unique architecture of the home of Nebraska's government. Meet at the Broyhill Fountain outside the Nebraska Union.

5:30 p.m.

Dinner at the Dining Centers

7 p.m.

Mini Golf

Join the International Welcome Team members for mini golf at Prehistoric Putt. Meet at the Broyhill Fountain outside the Nebraska Union to ride the shuttle. NCard Required.

Tuesday, August 19
10:30 a.m.

Campus Walking Tour

Campus Recreation Tour

Come tour the Campus Recreation building to see all the many workout and activity options available to students. Meet outside the main entrance of City Campus Recreation. NCard Required to enter.

5:30 p.m.

7 p.m.

East Campus Bowling

Join the Welcome Team for bowling at the Husker Bowling Center on East Campus. You can meet us at the bowling center or get a ride from City Campus. To ride the shuttle to East campus, meet at the Broyhill Fountain outside the Nebraska Union.

Wednesday, August 20
9:30 a.m.

Target Shuttle

Get a free ride to the Target store to purchase essential items such as bedding, food, cosmetics, clothing, personal care items, electronics and more. Meet at the R St. bus stop outside the Nebraska Union (south side).

1–5 p.m.

Required International Orientation

Required Orientation for all incoming international undergraduate students. Lunch will be part of orientation. Arrive at 1 p.m. to the Nebraska Union.

Thursday, August 21
9 a.m.–2 p.m.

Required International Orientation

Required Orientation for all incoming international undergraduate students. Lunch will be part of orientation. Arrive at 9 a.m. to the Nebraska Union.

2 p.m.

International Community and Connections Fair

Directly after orientation, you will attend the Community and Connection fair to meet international student organizations and campus resources.

8 p.m.

Play Fair

Join other first-year students for fun activities and community. Meet outside the main entrance to Vine St. Fields (across from Courtyard Residence Hall).

Friday, August 22
10:30 a.m.

Downtown Lincoln Walking Tour

Get acquainted with the area near campus on a tour featuring students' favorite local spots. Meet at the Broyhill Fountain outside the Nebraska Union.

12 p.m.

Lunch at the Dining Centers

Join International Welcome Team members for lunch at Willa Cather or Harper Dining Center. Welcome Team members will be at both. Open to students living in University Housing and off-campus residents (free). Meet inside the main entrance of Willa Cather or Harper.

4:15 p.m.

Meet up for Tunnel Walk

Join the rest of the class of 2029 for a Husker tradition in Memorial Stadium. Students who live in the residence halls are encouraged to attend with their residence assistants and floormates. Meet at the Broyhill Fountain outside the Nebraska Union to walk over to Memorial Stadium.

6 p.m.

Chancellor's BBQ

Students are invited to join Chancellor Rodney Bennett for a BBQ picnic following the Tunnel Walk and New Student Welcome. Deans and senior administrators will be present to welcome the class of 2029! Vegan and allergen-friendly options will be available.

6:30 p.m.

HuskerMania

Explore the entire outside Campus Recreation complex to connect with student organizations, sport clubs, intramural sports, group fitness activities and outdoor adventures. Lots of games, activities, entertainment and prizes!

Saturday, August 23
10 a.m.

Haymarket Farmers Market

Visit an open-air market with hundreds of booths selling fresh fruits and vegetables, locally made sweets and artisan products. Meet at the Broyhill Fountain outside the Nebraska Union.

2 p.m.

How to Use the Bus to Walmart

Learn how to use the Lincoln public bus system with members of the Welcome Team. At Walmart, you can purchase essential items such as bedding, food, cosmetics, clothing, personal care items, electronics and more. Meet at the Broyhill Fountain outside the Nebraska Union.

3:15 p.m.

How to Use the Bus to Gateway Shopping Mall

Learn how to use the Lincoln public bus system with members of the Welcome Team. Gateway Mall is a shopping center with clothing and athletic equipment stores, restaurants and a large gaming arcade. Meet at the Broyhill Fountain outside the Nebraska Union.

9 p.m.

Party at the Union

Join thousands of new Huskers for a fun event with live music, dancing, comedy, karaoke, trivia, art and more.
