International Welcome Week

January 14–18, 2025

International Welcome Week is dedicated to new international students to assist in the transition to life in Nebraska, including walking tours, a welcome night and many other events. All activities are optional except In-Person Orientation January 17. All activities are open to only new international undergraduate students.

5:30 p.m.	Dinner at a Dining Center Join International Welcome Team members for dinner at Harper Dining Center. Open to students living in University Housing and off-campus residents (free). Meet inside the main entrance of Harper.
Wednesday, January 15, 2025
12 p.m.	Lunch at the Dining Centers Join International Welcome Team members for lunch at Willa Cather or Harper Dining Center. Welcome Team members will be at both. Open to students living in University Housing and off-campus residents (free). Meet inside the main entrance of Willa Cather or Harper.
5:30 p.m.	Dinner at the Dining Centers Join International Welcome Team members for dinner at Willa Cather or Harper Dining Center. Welcome Team members will be at both. Open to students living in University Housing and off-campus residents (free). Meet inside the main entrance of Willa Cather or Harper.
7 p.m.	Village Club House Join the International Welcome Team members at the clubhouse in the Village residence hall to play foosball, pool/billiards, table tennis, board and card games or just come to meet new people! Free snacks and drinks provided.
Thursday, January 16, 2025
10:30 a.m.	Campus Walking Tour Take a visit around campus to get familiar with its layout and buildings. Meet inside the Nebraska Union near the Starbucks Coffee shop.
12 p.m.	Lunch at the Dining Centers Join International Welcome Team members for lunch at Willa Cather or Harper Dining Center. Welcome Team members will be at both. Open to students living in University Housing and off-campus residents (free). Meet inside the main entrance of Willa Cather or Harper.
2:30 p.m.	Nebraska State Capitol tour Walk to the State Capitol building for a free tour that showcases the unique architecture of the home of Nebraska’s government. Meet inside the Nebraska Union near the Starbucks Coffee shop.
5:30 p.m.	Dinner at the Dining Centers Join International Welcome Team members for dinner at Willa Cather or Harper Dining Center. Welcome Team members will be at both. Open to students living in University Housing and off-campus residents (free). Meet inside the main entrance of Willa Cather or Harper.
6:30–9 p.m.	East Campus Bowling Join the International Welcome Team members for free bowling on East campus. Meet inside the Nebraska Union (City Campus) near the Starbucks Coffee shop for the shuttle over to East campus!
Friday, January 17, 2025
9 a.m.–3 p.m.	Required International Orientation Required Orientation for all incoming international undergraduate students. Lunch will be part of orientation. Arrive at 9 a.m. to the Nebraska Union.
4 p.m.	Target Shuttle Get a free ride to the Target store to purchase essential items such as bedding, food, cosmetics, clothing, personal care items, electronics and more. Meet inside the Nebraska Union near the Starbucks Coffee shop.
7–10 p.m.	International Welcome Night Join the International Welcome Team, and the ISSO Event Coordinators in the Louise Pound Hall atrium for a night of fun. Snacks and drinks provided. Open to new international students only.
Saturday, January 18, 2025

3:15 p.m.	How to Use the bus to Gateway Shopping Mall Learn how to use the Lincoln public bus system with members of the Welcome Team. The Gateway Mall is a shopping center with clothing and athletic equipment stores, restaurants and a large gaming arcade. Meet at the R street bus stop outside the Nebraska Union.
