Before Move-In

Student loan borrowers must complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) and loan entrance counseling.

Copy and pack your health insurance policy cards. Don't have insurance? Find out more about University student insurance.

Add the University Police Department phone number into your contacts (402-472-2222) and sign up for UNL Alert.

Purchase a parking pass and/or register your bike.

Watch your email in late July for your assigned University Housing move-in date and time.

Familiarize yourself with the Student Code of Conduct.

Order your textbooks online through the Campus Store or through your MyRED account.

Talk with parents and family about how you will update them on your academic progress, budgets and whether you plan to give them access to your educational information. Your student information is protected by FERPA (Family Educational Rights Privacy Act). 

Bookmark the Center for Academic Success and Transition (CAST) for academic coaching, workshops and study stop locations.

If you plan to join a Panhellenic sorority, prepare for primary recruitment week.

If you're part of a special program that includes early move-in (Marching Band, First Huskers, Emerging Leaders, etc.), monitor your email closely for specific arrival guidance from your program and University Housing.

After Move-In

Check out Big Red Welcome events, including the Street Festival! The schedule is available in the Nebraska App.

Review your class schedule in MyRED and locate buildings. New Student Enrollment will run class schedule tours during Big Red Welcome.

Transfer your prescriptions to the Health Center by calling and bringing your medicine containers with the labels attached.

Connect your computers and devices to the eduroam Wi-Fi.

Contact your academic advisor if a course change is necessary.
