Online Orientation consists of four modules that introduce you to information related to academic success, life as a Husker, paying for college and next steps.

Online Orientation Requirements

Transfer and International Students

Domestic transfer students and all international undergraduates are required to complete Online Orientation. Reservations will open in MyRED April 2 for transfer students and May 2 for first-year students.

First-Year Students

First-year students who live more than 300 miles from campus or have extenuating circumstances are eligible for Online Orientation. If you are a first-year student and you select Online Orientation, your eligibility is subject to review. You will indicate why you have selected Online Orientation on your orientation reservation in MyRED when reservations open May 2.

Completing Online Orientation

On your assigned Online Orientation date indicated on your orientation reservation, you will gain access to the orientation in Canvas (the university's academic portal). June 1 is the earliest possible access date. You do not need to complete Online Orientation before being advised and enrolling in courses.

You have two weeks from your assigned access date to complete all four modules. For your convenience, the orientation content is available 24/7 and can be completed at any time. You do not need to complete the orientation in one sitting; it takes about two hours to complete all four modules. After completion, the orientation remains accessible for you to reference throughout your first semester.

How to Sign In

Follow the steps in the password configuration tutorial to set up your Canvas account. Then, log in and find the New Student Enrollment course in your Canvas dashboard. Students also receive a direct link to the course via email once it's accessible to you.
