Online Orientation Requirements
Fall Term Online Orientation Requirement
First-Year Students
First-year students who live more than 300 miles from campus or have extenuating circumstances are eligible for Online Orientation. First-year students selecting Online Orientation are subject to eligibility review.
Transfer Students
Fall Online Orientation is required.
International Students
Fall Online Orientation is required for all international students.
Spring Term Online Orientation Requirement

Completing Online Orientation
You’ll gain access to orientation in Canvas (the university’s academic portal) on the Online Orientation date listed in your orientation reservation. The earliest you can begin is the course access open date for your term.
You do not need to complete Online Orientation before being advised and enrolling in courses.
You have two weeks from your assigned orientation date to complete the modules. Orientation content is available 24/7 and can be completed at any time. You do not need to finish in one sitting—you may log out and log back in as needed. After completion, the orientation remains accessible for reference throughout your first semester.
How to Sign In
Use the same login credentials for Canvas that you use for MyRED. If you encounter login issues, follow the steps in the password configuration tutorial to set up your Canvas account. Then, log in and find the New Student Enrollment course in your Canvas dashboard. You’ll also receive a direct link to the course via email on your assigned orientation date.
