Fall 2026 Orientation Sessions
First-Year In-Person Orientation
Fall First-Year In-Person Orientation is a full-day program taking place on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln campus.
Fall First-Year In-Person Orientation Requirements
First-year students who live within 300 miles of campus are required to attend In-Person Orientation. If you are a first-year student who lives more than 300 miles from campus, or you have extenuating circumstances and cannot attend in person, you may be eligible for Online Orientation.
Parents/family members are welcome and encouraged to attend orientation with you. Students and parents/family members spend the morning together and then separate for afternoon sessions. You can include parents/family members on your orientation reservation in MyRED.
Orientation is free for students. A $15 fee applies for each guest.

Transfer In-Person Orientation
Fall Transfer In-Person Orientation is an optional partial-day program that introduces transfer students to campus facilities and resources and provides the opportunity to connect with peers.
Parents/family members are welcome to attend orientation with you. You can include parents/family members on your orientation reservation in MyRED.
Orientation is free for students. A $15 fee applies for each guest.

Fall Transfer Orientation Schedule
Transfer In-Person Orientation
Fall International In-Person Orientation is required for first-year and transfer international students.
This two-day event gives you the opportunity to connect with students from around the world and participate in small-group activities that promote academic success, cultural exchange and well-being. You’ll also tour campus buildings, practice English conversation (if you’re not a native speaker) and complete essential steps for attending Nebraska.
August 19 and 20, 2026
International students will be automatically registered for the required Fall International In-Person Orientation. The reservation is not available in MyRED.

Fall International In-Person Orientation Schedule
Rescheduling In-Person Orientation
Reservations cannot be cancelled or rescheduled in MyRED. We strongly encourage you to keep the orientation date you initially selected on your reservation. Orientation dates fill quickly, and we can’t guarantee availability on your desired date. If you decide to change your date, the best way to do so is by calling us at 402-472-4646. Availability changes by the minute, so calling us enables our team to provide you with the most up-to-date options for a new date.
- Wear comfortable shoes and clothes because you'll be walking around campus for part of the day.
- Check the weather forecast. Plan for indoor and outdoor activities and dress accordingly.
- Plan out your travel and parking plans ahead of time.
- No need to bring a bag—we'll provide you with a free drawstring bag at check-in.
- Submit your NCard application (used for campus-wide student identification, authentication and access) in advance and bring a government-issued ID (typically a driver's license) to pick up your card.
- Review the University Health Centers Power of Attorney (POA) information and bring the POA form (if applicable). Notaries will be available at the end of orientation.

Parking Information
First-Year In-Person Orientation
Free parking is available during Fall First-Year In-Person Orientation in the lot west of the University Health Center. The orientation lot is across 19th Street and will be marked with New Student Enrollment flags. Plan to arrive before 8 a.m. to allow time to check in at the Nebraska Union. The lot is about 0.25 miles from the Union—a 5- to 10-minute walk. Metered and garage parking near the Union are also available at your expense if you prefer.
Transfer In-Person Orientation
Free parking is available during Fall Transfer In-Person Orientation in city parking garages near campus. The Larsen Building garage at 14th and Q streets is closest to the Nebraska Union, where orientation takes place. You’ll receive a parking validation ticket at check-in to cover your parking costs when you exit the garage.
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is available on the southwest side of the Nebraska Union for vehicles with state-issued handicap permits.
