International Welcome Week

We'll help you transition to the U.S., Lincoln, and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

International Welcome Week includes an exciting week of events designed to help undergraduate international students become better acquainted with the University campus and city of Lincoln while connecting with other Nebraska students.

Note: All activities are optional except International Orientation on January 5–6. Activities are open to all new undergraduate students and their family members/guests.

The International Welcome Team will greet you when you arrive at the Lincoln (LNK) Municipal airport.

12:00–1:00 p.m.

Lunch downtown

Lunch is hosted by University Housing. Bring $10 for food. Meet at Selleck Quadrangle.

6:00–7:00 p.m.

Dinner in the Historic Haymarket

Bring $10–15 for food. Meet at Selleck Quadrangle.

Outdoor Ice Skating

Bring $9 cash. This event is hosted by University Housing. Meet at Selleck Quadrangle.

Meet at Selleck Quadrangle.

6:00–7:00 p.m.

Welcome dinner downtown for students living off campus

This meal is free so you do not have to bring any money. Meet at the New Student Enrollment Office (312 North 14 Street).

6:30–7:30 p.m.

Welcome dinner for University Housing residents

This event takes place in the Selleck Quadrangle.

8:00 p.m. (approximate)

Movie at the Grand Cinema

Bring $5 for the movie. Meet at Selleck Quadrangle.

English Language Test (ELT)

For Intensive English Program (IEP) students only. The test is in Jorgensen Hall 110.

11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Undergraduate International Student Orientation Session 1

This session is required and takes place in the Nebraska Union (1400 R Street).

11:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.

International Parent and Guest Orientation Session 1

This session is optional and takes place in the Nebraska Union (1400 R Street). It will be conducted in English.

6:00 p.m.

This is a free party at the Nebraska Union (1400 R Street).
