Summer Camps
The University of Nebraska–Lincoln offers several opportunities for incoming students to meet other new students before classes begin in August.
Below is a list of current summer programs that give students a University experience beyond the New Student Enrollment program. There will be a fee associated with each camp. Descriptions and website links for each camp are provided below.
Dates: TBD
Who this camp is for: All incoming freshman who want to meet people, have fun and learn from faculty about success in college
Location: UNL City Campus (one activity involves taking shuttles to east campus)
A partial fee waiver is available for Pell eligible students
Why you should attend: Power Up Weekend is all about the Power of Red! You will learn about the history and traditions on campus while meeting other friends, student leaders and faculty on campus.
NU Start
Date: TBD
Who this is for: NU Start is a unique residential learning community open only to incoming University freshmen
Location: UNL City Campus and students stay in Neihardt Residence Hall
A note about payment for NU Start: The $150 program fee is due upon registration. In an effort to help NU Starters become accustomed to using their University account all other fees are assessed to the student's bill in two parts. Tuition is due in June and room & board is due in July. Any applicable scholarships are automatically applied to the student's bill.
Why you should attend: Students earn 4 credit hours during this program by taking English 180 and Library 110. Open to the first 80 students who meet the NU Start admissions criteria.
Husker Entrada Adventure Orientation

Who this camp is for: Incoming freshman who love outdoor adventures
Location: This weeklong excursion will begin on UNL’s City Campus and then road trip to Colorado for backpacking in the rugged South San Wilderness area
Why you should attend: Could there be a more memorable, fun or impactful way to start college than backpacking through a remote Colorado wilderness area with a small group of future classmates? Designed specifically for incoming college students.
N.U.B.E Camp (Nebraska Undergraduates Becoming Engineers)
Date: TBD
Who this camp is for: Incoming Engineering students
Location: Begin on UNL’s City Campus and then take buses to Camp Kitaki in Louisville, Nebraska
Why you should attend: Have fun getting to know Engineering students, faculty, and staff. Learn about the experiences of Engineering students and participate in challenging activities!
