Attending New Student Enrollment

We encourage you to share in your student's discovery of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. While your student is attending New Student Enrollment we encourage parents to attend a concurrent program designed to educate parents about University life. Our goal is to be your partner in supporting your student as he/she transitions to college.

New Student Enrollment offers useful and practical suggestions for students and parents about being prepared for the challenges of college classes, taking advantage of supportive services, setting up bank accounts, and adjusting to the challenges of college. You will also have an opportunity to interact with other parents of new students.

Please note: that only students will be participating in the advising and registration aspects of the New Student Enrollment program.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln believes that parents and family members provide a crucial support base for the new experiences of their student. Understanding and adjusting to these changes in an exciting challenge for both students and parents.

Please note: the parent's resources will identify sources you can use to help your student through out the collegiate experience these resources.

Why Attend?

New Student Enrollment is an introductory course on the academic resources and services available to students. As a parent or guardian of a new student, you play a vital role in your student's transition into the University of Nebraska-Lincoln by helping them to be aware of the programs in place to help them succeed. Throughout the day, students and faculty will be available to answer questions that you might have regarding the process of enrollment or about the new university environment. This is a great opportunity for the parent to learn the procedures, resources, and traditions of this institution.
