The purpose of New Student Enrollment (NSE) is to provide students with a helpful transition to college life at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL).
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln requires undergraduate freshmen who are admitted and paid their Enrollment Deposit to attend the New Student Enrollment Program.
Attendance is required if you live within 300 miles of the campus. You will need to discuss the dates with your parents and then select a date to attend the program in person. In your MyRED you sign up for your NSE day, complete your Advising Inventory and placement exams. At NSE you will meet one-on-one with an academic adviser who will review your academic background, and you will register for your first semester courses.
If you live more than 300 miles from campus you will select the Mail-in Registration in the MyRed New Student Enrollment Reservation. This is a process where you will complete your advising inventory and placement exams. When these items are complete you will be automatically assigned an NSE day. On your NSE day an academic adviser will review all your transcripts (if available), and then create a course schedule for you. Lastly, an NSE staff member will register you for your courses. You will be notified via email when your course schedule is complete and ready to view in MyRed.
Due to limited space per day, it is encouraged you select a day as soon as possible.
